“I am all the names of history,” Nietzsche says. According to Walter Benjamin, everything is “quotable”: there are no small histories, ones that exist in opposition to grand histories. The purpose of this workshop is to use practical individual and group exercises to explore the relationships between the public and private realms, history and biography, here and there, fiction and reality, documents and artworks, the familiar and the strange, the vertical and the horizontal.
